[NEWS] – Fruit and vegetable exports from Vietnam to Laos increased by 3,000%

In September, Laos strongly bought Vietnamese vegetables and fruits, a record increase of more than 3,000%.

Statistics from the General Department of Customs said that the export value of Vietnam’s vegetables and fruits in September 2022 reached US$251.9 million, up 8.9% over the same period. Generally, in the first nine months of 2022, the export of this group of goods helps our country earn 2.4 billion USD, down 11% compared to the same period in 2021.

In the past 9 years, China is still the largest customer, accounting for 43.3% of the total export value of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables. However, exports to this market only reached 1.06 billion USD, down 30.5% over the same period last year.

In contrast, the export of vegetables and fruits to other markets recorded strong growth. For example, going to the US increased by 18.9%, to Thailand increased by 27.7%, to the Netherlands increased by 35.4%, etc.

Most surprisingly, in the first nine months of this year, fruit and vegetable exports to Laos increased by 230%, reaching nearly $44.8 million. This is also the market with the strongest growth by the end of September 2022.

In particular, in September, the export of this group of goods to the Laos market recorded a record increase of 3,006%, reaching nearly 10.3 million USD, bringing Laos to the 7th position in the largest customer group of Vietnamese vegetables and fruits. exports in September.
