[NEWS] – Green regulations when exporting agricultural products to Europe
17/01/2023
Europe has a high demand for agricultural products, but the demand for green products is increasingly popular, requiring domestic enterprises to quickly respond.
The situation of exporting green agricultural products to Europe in 2022
At the Conference on Trade Promotion of agricultural products to the European market, organized by the Trade Promotion Department recently, Mr. Tran Ngoc Quan
- Trade Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in Belgium said: Green trend In Europe, two issues need attention, namely the European Green Agreement (EGD) and the Farm-to-Forest Policy (F2F).
In 2019, EGD was kicked off. This is a package of actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce resource use while achieving economic growth. This means that products sold in the European market will have to meet higher sustainability standards
The EGD includes several key elements: Europe’s climate ambitions are higher for 2030 and 2050; no environmental pollution, no toxic substances; provide clean, reasonably priced, and safe energy; conservation and restoration of ecosystems and biodiversity; promoting a clean and sustainable economy; efficient use of energy and resources in construction and renovation…
Green Regulations
Compliance with green regulations clearly brings many benefits to businesses, but it must also be affirmed that this is not an easy task, especially with the issue of production conversion costs. Information on European green regulations itself is not really complete.
In addition, with the new organic law, labeling rules include not only the label on the product but also all claims, indications, trademarks, trade names, images, or related signs. regarding the product.
The use of terms like organic and ecological is only allowed if the product is certified organic. Accordingly, manufacturers should note that the product packaging design is not too similar to the color (green and white) and shape (leaf) of the European logo Bio because it may cause confusion for consumers.
The EU market is considered one of the potential and challenging markets for Vietnamese agricultural products to approach. In addition to the strict procedures in the import process, the production process of agricultural products is also full of complicated requirements. To help Vietnamese businesses understand and are in need of accessing the EU market, Indochina Holdings would like to introduce trade promotion services. With a team of experienced consultants, we are ready to stand side by side with Vietnamese enterprises to bring Vietnamese products to the international market.
