[NEWS] - Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and 2 Southern expressway projects ready to start

On the afternoon of June 15, information at a press conference, the Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Traffic Works in Ho Chi Minh City - Mr. Luong Minh Phuc said, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Vai Belt 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City and 2 highway projects Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway will take place on the morning of June 18, 2023.

The ceremony, chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, will be connected online from the main bridge point in Ho Chi Minh City with the bridges in Dak Lak and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

The Ring 3 project passing through Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An is invested in a one-way phase with a length of more than 76km, with a total investment of 75,400 billion VND. Ring 3 in Ho Chi Minh City with a length of more than 47km passes through Thu Duc, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, and Cu Chi cities with an investment of 41,000 billion VND.

Ring 3, when completed, will connect 5 radial highways, including Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay, Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong, Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai, Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh and Ben Luc - Long Thanh create links for the whole region.

The project will reduce congestion and expand space, forming many industrial corridors to connect many seaport clusters to reduce travel time and logistics costs.

Mr. Luong Minh Phuc shared that up to now, Ho Chi Minh City’s 3rd belt project has had more than 87% of the ground for the project, this is an unexpected result.

The investor has completed the starting procedures as prescribed, such as signing the contract and approving the construction drawing design, environmental sanitation, and labor safety.

After the start of construction, Ho Chi Minh City will face many challenges as it organizes simultaneous construction in 4 localities of Ho Chi Minh City to ensure progress and quality in terms of technical requirements. In particular, the project must not affect people’s daily activities.

However, as a coordinator, Ho Chi Minh City needs to accompany and coordinate with Binh Duong and Long to complete and prepare for the following work. "However, with a new way of doing things, I believe the project will reach the finish line on schedule, basically completed by the end of 2025, and will open the whole route in 2026" - Mr. Luong Minh Phuc shared.
